Hey, I’m a new member as I’m really confused by what SPV I should have next. I’ve been a big fan of the SPV as I was one of the first to have one when it was release 4/5 years ago and I’ve never looked back. However, 3 months before my contract was up I broke the screen and had to go back to using an old Nokia 3310 (old skool cool).

Now flicking through websites and orange brochures I really have no idea what to get next? C600 (I‘d love a C700, but I guess that won‘t happen), M3100 (I‘m unsure of having a qwerty key board) M600/M700 (I‘m unsure of not having a keyboard)

Basically my needs are to sum up that I need it for work and social purposes… but would like to keep with orange…

After some research, I can’t understand why we won’t see a C700, when orange have released it here

Any advice, will a C600 do, or will it be superseded soon????

P.s. Sorry if its in the wrong forum, but there are loads here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It all depends on what you are looking for - a Smartphone or a Pocket PC phone. Personally, I started off with an SPV E200 then moved to a Motorola MPX200 then an MPX220. After switching to a Pocket PC with the SPV M500 I'd never look back to Smartphone even though Pocket PC = larger formfactor. I am looking to upgrade to a HTC Hermes or a HTC Artemis in the near future (see the forums for information/reviews).

If you're looking for a small formfactor then probably a Smartphone. If you're looking for flexibility and functionality - Pocket PC is the way to go. Horses for courses as they say! :)

I'm confused, I thought that the C700 wasn't being released, yet they have it in stock?

I don't know what to do now about a phone :)

I'm sending my newly upgraded M3100 back to Orange under my 7 days cancellation.

It's too big and heavy for me. I love my C600 so hopefully there'll be a successor to that along soon.

Thats what would worry me about the M3100, It felt heavy when I tested one... Although, i'm leaning towards the M700 hopefully Oarange will let me have a look at one when its released... However, I'd like the sucessor of the C600 as its been out a while (over a year?) now...

Thanks for the replys guys... Still can't make my mind up though.... May just try a Blackberry...

lol i wouldnt care if it was heavy, in a matter of days i would get used to it. im sure anyone would get used to its weight if they had it for a while.

i really dont care about it's weight, im just really excited about the features. i mean u can play GBA and PS1! also its a good phone for recording video and way more other things.

im sure its not too much heavier than the sidekick 2 or 3. actually, according to phonescoop.com

the 8525 (M3100) is - 6.21oz (176g)

the side kick 2 and 3 are both - 6.49oz (184g)

the sda/sp5m/tornado is - 3.74oz (106g)

and the C600 is - 3.38oz (105g)

and ive held my friends sidekick, it really wasnt that heavy, especially with the keybord out. the 8525 is a little lighter and im sure it would feel lighter with the keybord out too.

Last time I spoke to Orange (about a week ago) the had no news on the C700, and the guy in an Orange shop today say they have scrapped it and won't be releasing it.

I've also been looking at the Blackberry Pearl, which looks a smart piece of kit (albeit with a 1.3 camera) but as i've never used blackberry, i'm a little unsure.

I really don't like the blackberry at all... An awful phone that I don't get on well with...

The keys are far to small, and the scroll is incredibly sensitive and I found it boring to use... Amongst other things, I really just hated using it...

if it was me, the next spv i would get would be the m700.

Not that I can remember, sorry. But I don't think it was too far away. After all, he had one in the shop (well, got it from the back of the shop) which is more than they usually do. He also seemed like one of the few phone sales people that knew what he was talking about.

I had the Spv 500 from launch and it was a fair phone, until it started to pack up, I have had a battle with Orange in order to get a SPV phone changed, I had for a brief spell the C600 and again this was much of the same. Not a bad phone. All I would say is that after owning the massivly impressive SPV3100 (I actually own the HTC equivalent) I would recommend this purely on the basis that it is everything that you could possibly want and more. It is the best phone/PDA I have ever owned the only thing that lets this phone down is that you really need to invest in a memory card for it to be practical to use say TOMTOM.

Put aside your issues with size and go for what is possibly at present the most perfect combination of phone and PDA that is on the market presently.

Only skim read this forum but in answer to the non release of a C700 was that there were too many bugs and faults with the device, one being the phone got VERY hot! and that this was the main problem for the non release.

Get a PPC with a keyboard, you will LOVE it, there much quicker for everything, or at the very least get a smartphone with wifi. The new slide out keyboard smartphone might be ideal for you? I dont know of the release date but it looks fantastic.

Sorry for late reply but only just found this thread.

What phone are you talking about here. I need a new device & wanted the C700 but was also told it wasn't being released. Looked at the M700 but whilst the functionality is amazing, I think it looks like a childs toy so I won't have it. I'm with Orange & very reluctant to leave coz I have a great contract but really don't know what phone to get.

Any ideas?
