Guest hp1 Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 Hi all, Been a while since i posted. Just curious to see if this issue is bothering anyone else. I have ansd SPVM600 with SPB POcket plus which has an inbuilt battery monitor that displays at the very top of the today screen. However, I find the monitor to be next to useless as despite it showing at least 25% remaining the phone will die moments later (without a battery warning I might add, seperate issue). I was just wondering: 1) Does the battery monitor in Pocket PLus use the same data as the monitor built into WM5 2) Is there an alternatibe battery monitor anyone knows of that is accurate but also has an inbuilt low power warning? Many Thanks HP
Guest chucky.egg Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 Batti has a Low Battery warning (and others too) I don't know where they get their info from though
Guest Disco Stu Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 If you search on 'battery monitor' at places like Handango you will get loads of alternatives. I would recommend PocketMax's phoneAlarm ; http://www.pocketmax.net/phoneAlarm.html The meter is digital and you get an audible voice warning. There are other notifications too. Their ScreenGuard is very handy too. :) My guess at the Pocket Plus problem is that you need to refresh the Today screen to get an accurate reading.
Guest newtonmj Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 (edited) I too use the SPB Pocket Plus battery tool on my M600 and find it's spot on. Indeed, I've been trialling various today-plugins and they all agree exactly with each other (and the built-in battery monitor i.e. that you see when you click the battery icon). Hence, one can only assume they're getting the data from the same place (every % drop is mirrored simultaneously by them all). Furthermore, I've had the battery go right down (not been keeping tabs on the figures but last night it was less than 10%) before shutting itself down (with warnings periodically beforehand) so I'm curious as to what might be causing your problem? With your SPB showing 25% what value do you see when you click on the built-in battery icon? Have you enabled the SPB Today plugin? That too can indicate charge level - what does it say? Does it agree with the top indicator? And the built-in battery level status? The fact you're not getting battery warnings leads me to believe that your battery charge is 25% and that the phone is perhaps dying early? Hence, why SPB reports it correctly as 25% and your built-in warnings (presumably preset to trigger at values way below 25%) are never triggering...? Mathew Edited January 19, 2007 by newtonmj

Mathew I have noted that the smart monitor from smartphinger is quite accurate. never had any problem
Guest newtonmj Posted January 24, 2007 Report Posted January 24, 2007 I have noted that the smart monitor from smartphinger is quite accurate. never had any problem I imagine they're all as accurate as each other as I believe the current status of the battery a variable reported directly by the system. Of course, some of these apps then go on to try and predict how this translates to time remaining - this may well be quite variable between apps given the nature of this task and the variety of potential methodologies. Guest Markda2000 Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 This problem is well documented on the Universal, in fact mine reset and died at 40% then 45%. It all boils down to a faulty battery, and my airtime provider were kind enough to send out a new battery, and problem solved.
