UK 3 sim card in unlocked SPV C600

Hi, complements on a fantastic and usefull site.

I have a completly unlocked c600 with an imate rom.

It accepts Orange and O2 sim cards but when I put a 3 one in it says incompatible or missing sim card.

Is it not possible to use a 3g/utms sim card in a 2g phone or am I missing somthing?

3 use a USIM which is not compatible with a SIM (such as C600 device)
