Guest Looby Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 I have a dial-up connection running at 46.0k speed. I want to download some large map files ( 166mb) to my PC which I can copy to CD. However after I get to around 22mb the Internet connection drops and a dialogue box opens saying 'the connection has been re-set by your Server' (Freeserve\Orange) and I have to start from the beginning. I tried a Download Manager from the Internet which said it would pick-up from where it left off but when the connection dropped and I tried to re-start it said 'pick-ups were not supported by my server' I have all the boxes un-ticked on my PC to allow no time limit etc. Short of finding someone with a fast Broadband connection is there anything I can do? Any advice would be appreciated...Looby. :)
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 FlashGet is very good, and free IIRC! P
Guest Looby Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 (edited) Thanks for your advice Paul. I have tried Flashget, nice program but is the same, as my server doesn't support pick-ups the download reverts to the beginning each time. Ulrich Computers in Diss have done the task for me also copying them to Compact Disc. Thanks again.....Looby. :) Edited January 26, 2007 by Looby
