Guest daveeeeeed Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 Hi guys I've been using an iPaq HW6915 and a few months back bought TomTom 6 to use with the device's inbuilt GPS. In the period since I've got incredibly fed up with the ipaq and have resolved to return to using a smartphone (currently awaiting o2's release of the Graphite). I'd still like to use GPS, and intend to purchase a BT GPS receiver. Having paid £80+ for TomTom 6, I want to be able to use the Western Europe / UK maps that came bundled with it - however I understand that TT6 is only a PocketPC release rather than for Smartphone. Does anyone know whether I can use the old Smartphone TT5 software with the TT6 maps - or am I asking for trouble? TomTom themselves seem remarkably quiet about this and, as far as I know, have not announced a forthcoming TT6 smartphone release. Thanks Daveeeeeeed
Guest MikeSel Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 I use tomtom 6 on my T-mobile MDA III, works fine for me :)

Guest majB Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 There is now only one version it is for PPC and smartphone. The problem is that the installation on a not cmpatible smartphone it self is a bit of pain, because sometimes you need to select an option but not all the keys are properly functioning. I used a remote PC-smartphone prog to select the options that I needed and completed the installation of TT6 on my orange spv c600.

Could I just check a couple of things, from someone who's managed to get the thing installed: 1) Did your smartphone appear in the My TomTom application shell that comes with TT6? 2) I appreciate that you used a remote management utility to install the software - but does it work properly now you've got it on the device, without a touchscreen? I know that the TT6 is primarily touchscreen driven on the pocketpc... Thanks

There is no install necessary, i used the same SD card from my 6700 and put it in the Q. When i execute the TomTom.exe file, it starts up in landscape mode just fine. I have only run into one scenario where i cannot use a feature. This is when you "Browse a Map", the directionals control the volume, so i have no way to scroll the map. There is a program called "Fake Cursor" that will simulate a stylus and will allow you to use all features of TomTom 6. If anyone wants i can upload the file. -s
