Guest Graham 535i Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 Hi, My SPV 3100 went for a swim yesterday (i.e. my daughter spilt drink all over it) No problems with the phone except the slide out keyboard has gone nuts like when you hit q it comes out with qwertyk "FLAP IT!"(it does not include the word flap it after qwertyk it's there to show how I feel), is there a way of fixing this or should I call Orange and deny all knowledge of everything and just say it's got a fault. Thanks Graham
Guest touficjohn Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 Option 1: tell them its not working. Send it in for repair under the waranty see if they dont notice its been pissed on. Option 2: Find out if you've got insurance on your phone, if so see where you covered etc, if its international say ur going on a trip which is why ur calling and after a week "loose" it - not forgetting to cancel the SIM. Option 3: Get your daughter to cry over the phone to Orange. Good luck
Guest waroffice Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 most new phones have a label inside which changes colour is it gets wet so i wouldnt risk it if i was you..... but thats me, i think the daughter crying thing will work but you may have to hang up and re dial if the operator is not female!

You could take your hermes apart and clean the keyboard circuit board with some cleaning alcohol or some such if you feel brave enough :) Phil
Guest Stuartn Posted February 7, 2007 Report Posted February 7, 2007 (edited) You could take your hermes apart and clean the keyboard circuit board with some cleaning alcohol or some such if you feel brave enough :) Phil this is probably what orange would do, if they you were covered, but if you attempt it your self and then that hasnt fixed the problem, they might then say you have voided your cover. i woudl consult them first on the matter, keep ringing till you get a chirpy happy sounding lady, and then give her a nice sob story and ask for a new phone ^.^ like it was said before, Having your daughter crying in ear shot might also help ^.^ if indeed you do intend to take the phone apart your self, Be very gentle to much pressure can lift the tracks for the circuit and then it will be a real bitch to sort out. the trick is to use to much al-key-hol ( on the board not in the bar ^.^) as it evaps and shouldnt leave any damaging traces.
