Guest mini_man Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 Just your thoughts. Funnily enough I had to make a room 101 speach about this in english the other day, got an A! :D So thought id quickly copy it in and get your views and some insights about the show. A quarter of a million pounds 22 Ientical sealed boxes And no questions... except one - Deal or No Deal? First aired october 31,2005. It is presented by Noel Edmands. Instad of using questions to test a contestants knowledge, the show uses a series of random boxes to test the players luck and nerve. The program when watched for the first time seems to be an interesting new idea that has not beenused before. However after a few of these episodes are viewed you come to terms with how tedious the show reall is. All that seems to happen is a rather annoying contestant chooses boxes by calling out number and seeing which amount is inside whilst the viewer sits there bored as we can not take part by shouting answers at the TV Screen. Over 2 series there has only been one lucky top prize winner named Laura Pearce who one £250000 and regrettably 8 players got the minimum prize of 1p. The show has got so bad that contestants with extreme superstitions bring "lucky items" on with the to help them win the highest ammount possible, for example a contestant with a "lucky teabag" which on occassion the contestant will sniff. The teabag apparently helped a contestant win £87000, however it also brought bad luck leaving the contestand with £250. Deak or no deal is a perfect example of the apparent "dumbing down" of modern television. I dislike the show very much as it contains no intellectual content whatsoever and question if it is healthy that a show in which people simply randomly open 22 boxes to revel numbers is so popular. I find it very aggrovating that some contestants often talk about "having a feeling" about a box when in reality it is a game of complete chance and the only influence that any player can have on the game is through their decisions whether or not to accept the bankers offers. 99% luck, 1% playing the odds and not even that is enganging for me, even if Noel Edmonds comes across like opening each box is life or death. Sorry for rambling on like that, but i thought i would open a new discussion :) Sam P.S applogies for the terrible spelling!
Guest peekie Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 You think the uk version is bad then watch the dutch one which is crap , least you get a chance to enter online to win money and yes i try each day as it does not detect iam not in the uk , do a search for deal or no deal nl and watch online , you wont understand what they are saying but after you will think the uk one is number 1 again , and yep the programe came from holland as did the other top tv show you brits watch :)
Guest Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 This is one of the worst pieces of crap TV around today. I don't know what the application form for entering is like, but they manage to pick out idiots who really think they have "a system" when the whole thing is obviously pot luck. And the most annoying thing? If the moron chooses to deal they continue to play the game at the very same pace until all the boxes are gone. IDIOTS!! gr PS: I’m not a fan of the show :)
Guest James Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 only one thing to say.... NO DEAL!
Guest mini_man Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 PS: I’m not a fan of the show Ah damn! I was really convinced that you were a gr8 fan! not lol hehe. Sam

Guest mcwarre Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 Deal or no deal is complete and utter TOSH
Guest Jamma14 Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 (edited) Really? How come you all think so? I think it's awesome! I'm joking...I second that, it really is "utter tosh". Noel Edmonds is so aggravating..."Now please Player X, please just don't hit the £250,000 because if not then there's a real chance of a life changing offer." :) It is all pluck, (pure luck) and the way they try to make out it is anything but is moronic. Guest peekie Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 Ok why is it popular the same reason my wife watches it to see people suffer when they deal too early , its sometimes relaxing to see someone else suffer after they took 20,000 to find they had 250,000 on the table :D and everyone knows on the forum miniman is the number 1 fan as he has the dvd game as well :) :D
Guest mini_man Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 bah! my plan of reverse phycology to make you think i hated it failed! *hides noel edmands poster* but the statement I mentioned above Deak or no deal is a perfect example of the apparent "dumbing down" of modern television. Its just becoming so true! at least we can be thankful that its not a trashy reality tv show, although i expect we will see deal or no deal celeb winners singing and dancing whilst saying deal or no deal on ice! AHHRGH Whilst watching ugly betty an advert came on, wahoo one of my favourite shows (the friday night project) is going to be presented by bloomin noel edmonds! Sam

Guest mini_man Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 really? What would you consider to be worse, ok excluding all reality tv shows! Sam
Guest pwest13 Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 Give me Deal or no Deal over Flog It anyday.
Guest mcwarre Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 really? What would you consider to be worse, ok excluding all reality tv shows! Sam Oh don't get me started.... Let's try soaps. Eastbenders; carnation street; bollyoaks. They may suit a particular audience but, be honest, you can leave your brain in the fridge to chill when watching it. O, yeah. Anything with Leonardo de Caprio in it........................ :)
Guest mini_man Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 :) Ok I watch "bollyoaks" thats actually funny, but all the other soaps are DEPRESSING!
