Guest The Doctor Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 (edited) OK, so heres the deal. I flashed the HTC 1.35 TyTN ROM to my Vario II, however i've found that I've now lost the little 3G icon and its been replaced by an ugly U instead. After letting it annoy me for so long I want it back :D If somebody could attach the following file from a Vario II / M3100 ROM with the customisation cab's installed I'd be most grateful :D The file I'm after is: \Windows\phcanOverbmp.dll I'll post some kind of tutorial about getting the 3G icon back if people are interested and attach the dll to get the U back as well, it can be suprisingly difficult to overwrite :) Phil Edited January 25, 2007 by The Doctor
Guest mwright Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 Hmm. Assuming it is ok to do this - mods better delete it if not! phcanOverbmp.zip
Guest The Doctor Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 Thanks mwright :) Much appreciated :D Phil

Not too bothered about the "U", but have you found any other problems or issues after flashing the HTC ROM? Do voicemail notifications still work OK? What do you lose and gain compared with the T-Mobile ROM? Thanks in advance, Mike.

Hey Mike, The main reason I flashed the HTC ROM was to get sleuth255's A2DP patch to work, since i have had skip free music :D Never noticed the voicemail icns not working, it always tells me when i have new voicemail. However I have now flashed a test AKU3.3 ROM from HTC and it has increased bluetooth transfer speeds no end :) AKU2.3: Send: 15-23kb/s Recieve: 25-33kb/s AKU3.3: Send: 35-44kb/s Recieve: 45-62kb/s Tested on an iMac G4 with Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR 250m USB dongle. Oh and the E icon shows for EDGE and H for HSDPA :D My advice would be to wait for the AKU3.3 official updates and then flash several after each other and see which one/s you like.
