Secondly, linking to leaked ROM's is against the forum rules <_<

Mod's please delete/close topic...

Woops. Sorry, thought it was okay since Gizmodo is a fairly big and popular site.

Close this thread if necessary.

Don't worry about it, we all make mistakes *looks at 10% warn level :)*

Do you think there will be a version of WM6 Crossbow released for the Hermes though? I wouldn't mind trying it out later on when it is stable and legal to run :) Looks much better than WM5...

There IS a version for hermes around somewhere (no download), google 'wm6 hermes' and you'll find some pics of it running on an SPV M3100. Doubt they will release it officially though as theyre only just putting together AKU3.x updates for the Hermes.

No idea whether its stable or not though, most likely a derivative of the RTM build that was leaked for the HTC Wizard but with support for the samsung processor and Hermes bootloader and memory map and 3g etc.

WM6 is really only a facelift of WM5 with some speed tweaks and WLM and .NET CF2 in ROM. its running on the Windows CE 5.2 kernel so really its WM5SE :D So maybe we will see a WM6 upgrade for hermes as we had a WM2003SE upgrade for the Typhoon (not mentioning the unofficial WM5 one which was full of bugs :D)

I'm not sure whether discussion of WM6 is against the forum rules but i see no mention in the reminder on illegal content about discussion:

I'd like to just reaffirm MoDaCo's position regarding piracy and illegal content in the light of some recent questions / postings.

Posts will be censored by myself or my moderation team if:

- They link to illegal ROMs or sites hosting them

- They link to the GBA emulator or sites hosting them (in light of Nintendo's legal stance)

- They link to other illegal content or sites hosting them (eg Smartphone ROMs, Illegal Smartphone games etc. etc.)

Of course, there are those that argue homescreens / ringtones are a grey area - this is true - but I have made an executive decision to let these be posted, and should the copyright owner take issue, they can contact me and I will deal with the offending post immediately.

If you have any issues with this policy, please feel free to post below, contact me directly via PM, E-Mail or MSN, but please avoid arguing for the sake of arguing, and consider my position, and that of the forum icon_smile.gif

P

If a mod could clarify the position on the discussion of as of yet unreleased ROMs/OS's etc I'd be grateful as it's a grey area :)

Unfortunately we've been advised that discussion of hacked, leaked roms is against the rules. Discussion of WM6 is fine, just don't draw on experiences with dodgy versions.

Ok no problem :)

Also, last time I was speaking to T-Mobile I asked one of the engineers (when I was through to the technical support department) if they had any roadmap for Crossbow being released to Hermes owners... And I got a resounding "nope" :) They have no plans, at least for the next 18 months.

So, unless he was flat outright lying to me, or was mis/uninformed (which is a possibility, of course), I wouldn't hold out much hope. Unless someone hacks the ROM or cooks a future release. Ah, well...
