Guest Confucious Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 With my NatWest Premier bank account Igot free mobile phone insurance and so duly registered my O2 Exec, My C600 and my C550online (I kept on meaning to register my brothers Vario II but never got round to it) Anyway, to cut a long story short, I tried to claim and when I hadn't heard back from them I rang yesterday to be told that my Exec wasn't covered because it is a PDA - didn't I read my policy document? Sure enough, on reading the policy doc (it wasn't buried in the small print - I just hadn't read it at all) it said that no device running Windows mobile or Symbian is covered! That rules out every phone I have owned in the past few years! What really gets my back up is that I registered these phones online and selected the make and model online from their drop down lists and it let me register them without pointing out that these phones weren't covered! It was the only one of the so called benefits that I thought was any good. You live and learn...
Guest Monolithix (MVP) Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 A few years back i found out the same with my insurance policy from the link i'd bought a few years prior to that. My C500 "wasnt a supported handset", so the insurance didnt cover it. Sigh...
Guest travisb Posted January 31, 2007 Report Posted January 31, 2007 Blimey, will have to check the small print on my LloydsTSB version of the same (that's if I can find the policy!).
Guest badgerarc Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 orange tried to pull that crap on me a few years ago when i got my first "smartphone" But it was only after I had recieved my policy documents that they tried to back out and tell me I wasn't covered and would have to pay more. Fortunately I managed to get out of paying extra.
Guest Confucious Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 The NatWest policy documents do actually state that Windows and Symbian phones ren't covered - maybe I should learn to read.... :)
Guest Cheng Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 Only had a quick look at it a while ago but I think it said windows mobile phones...if used for business use? Depending how you read it? Any way you can say to them its just for personal use?
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Does not make sense, as you said you could register but what would be the point of that if you were not going to be covered anyway.
Guest Confucious Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 Just an update on this.... I received a note to say DHL had delivered a package on 15/2 which had been signed for by my next door neighboutr. Not expecting anything I wasn't to fussed when they went on holiday and I coulkdn't pick it up. Finally got it yesterday and it was my Universal! As they couldn't repair it within 7 days they replaced it with a brand new one! Funny thing is they don't seem to have charged me.... ;)
