Guest genaldar Posted January 27, 2007 Report Posted January 27, 2007 (edited) I've been running wmp11 since the last beta and I love it, but I think I found a bug last week. It won't play mono files. I was making a new ringtone for my brother and I attempted to check it out in wmp. It wouldn't play. So I thought I screwed up. I tried it again. And it wouldn't play. So I opened it in media player classic, and it worked fine. It also played fine on my phone and his. I then went about converting it to wma for my phone (his was mp3), which was its own hassle, and it also wouldn't play in wmp11. But again it played find in media player classic and on my phone. I then tried a bunch of my existing ringtones (mp3 and wma, all mono) and none would play in wmp11. So I went to the wmp site and sent an email. I of course haven't heard anything. I know wmp10 played them fine, so it has to be a bug in wmp11. But I wanted to ask if anyone else came across this. btw if no one minds I'm going to vent a little about my trouble in converting that mp3 into a wma. I use cool edit pro (years ago a friend of mine who's into music switched to apple so he gave me his copy of cool edit pro) and it would choke every time I tried to convert the mono mp3 to mono wma. So I tried my backup (cdex) which apparently doesn't support mono so it converted my mono mp3 to a mirrored stereo wma. I then had to use cep to convert it to mono. I didn't have this problem with any other ringtones (I just switched to wma on my device a couple of weeks ago). It annoyed me so much I tried audacity, but since it doesn't support wma I uninstalled it rather quickly. In doing a quick search I found out cool edit pro got bought by adobe and is called Adobe Audition, but there is a free beta of Adobe Soundbooth (which appears to be elements to Audition's photoshop). This was the desktop version and I figured it out. It wasn't wmp at all. It was the codec pack I was using at the time.
