Guest robertchinneck Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 Hi I run Vista and Windows Media Player 11. I connect a brand new T-Mobile MDA Vario II via USB and the 2GB sandisk micro SD card shows up fine in WMP11. The transfer speed is appalling. We are talking minutes to transfer one song, 5-10 Megabytes. I know there'll be an overhead on the USB2 speed for Windows Mobile Device Center (Vista's ActiveSync equivalent) but shouldn't I be seeing around the USB2's 480Mbps (60 Megabytes per second)? Even half this speed should transfer a whole album in seconds shouldn't it? Even at USB 1 speeds of 11-12Mbps (~1.5 Megabytes per second) a 320kbps encoded song should only take 10-20 seconds shouldn't it? What is going on? Any advice and help would be really handy. Thanks Rob.
Guest slinkoff Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 you've probably got "Use Advanced Network Functionality" disabled (under Settings - Connections - USB to PC) although even with it enabled the speed isn't great and if you have the same problems as me you won't be able to see your SD card with it enabled. So far my experiences with Vista's mobile syncing have ranged from bad to appalling, I'm actually using my old XP laptop to do all my syncing with now, Vista is useless.

Thanks Rob. i think it because it is in "sync". i have always have that problem when going through any of the phones i have had. but not to the slowness you are getting. I just take the card out and drag the files to it through may sd adapter slot.

Use a media card reader...
