All mail collected when "Only display messages from the last x days" selected

I Have a T-mobile Vario

I have mail set up to only display messages from the last 3 days.

I check my mail account using IMAP

The mail account I check my mail from, is dedicated to mobile access - very rarely does it get checked from any other location.

Since last April, this set up has worked fine - mail has downloaded fine (if a little slowly).

Last night, the mail app seemed to go into mind dump mode, and started downloading all mail in my account - around 2,300 messages.

Needless to say, WM ran out of memory within a few minutes, and despite all efforts to delete the downloaded mail etc, whenever it reconnected, it would attempt to download all mail.

I managed to disable the automatic send and receive (hard when WM is popping up system modal dialogues every 2 seconds saying it has no memory (no brain more like), and have manually pruned my mail account down to 1 months mail.

The device will now collect mail fine, although it is still collecting all mail, rather than just the last 3 days...

Has anyone come across this problem, or know why it has suddenly started to do this.

I know that its probably not a terribly good idea to have 2,500 emails in an account being checked from a mobile - but does this explain why it seems to have broken the "last x days" functionality???

Also, does anyone know how to get WM to delete the mail from the server after it has been deleted of the phone?

Hi

I have the exact same problem on my pocket pc, was working fine until something happened last week and now it's trying to download my whole inbox.

I'm using pocket pc with IMAP4 settings, to my normal exchange mail account. Have been using it over WLAN and GPRS no problems until last week.

Has anyone found out what's causing this?
