I'm curious if anyone has tried it out? On the site they say

Mobile phones. With Windows SideShow, you can configure a compatible mobile phone to show you your contacts and calendar, the latest updates from your favorite websites, your favorite pictures, and other information.

What are compatible phones? Are they out yet? Do you need Outlook installed to use it (I guess yes)?

Basically, I haven't heard or seen of anyone use it in the way Microsoft describe. So thought I'd ask before I give it a go

I dont think they have launched any yet. The sideshow concept covers phones, remote screens etc.

I can see it in Vista and it loads up, just not much else

Exactly. A Vista PC is effectively the server for the sideshow. You need a sideshow enabled device (eg remote screen, mobile etc) to view the info on.

Hm I've tried it before in the Vista Beta 2, but it didnt seem that WM 5.0 was compatible...

Anyone got it to work?

I wasn't under the impression that WM devices were 'sideshow compatible'.

Wonder if it's a crossbow feature or something?

WM5 devices aren't compatible. Infact I dont think anything is yet!

There will be things coming out in the future with "Sideshow compatible" stickers on though.

I'm just expecting (hoping) that either MS or another developer comes up with an app to use a PDA/phone as a sideshow device, the possibilities are great!
