Guest pablo1000 Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 I'm on my 2nd Prophet, as my first one kept getting stuck in headset mode when no headset was plugged in. I often use my phone as an MP3 player with a 3.5mm to 2.5mm headphone jack. This shouldn't cause any problems but my old phone kept getting stuck in the headset mode when the jack was unplugged. As this appeared to be a fault on the handset, Orange replaced the phone. My 'new' Prophet got stuck for the first time in headset mode last night - it took 40 minutes to get it out of headset mode (tried plugging in the hands free kit that came with the phone, soft reset, switching the phone off) and in the end I left the phone alone for 5 minutes and it went back to normal of it's own accord. Anyone else had similar problems or knows how to manually take the phone out of headset mode?

Guest pablo1000 Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 having the same issue here and o2 is taking long to answer my emails and since I bought this in Hong kong and I'm in canada I dont' think there any service station here and help from people with this problem would be great Am on my second replacement (arrriving tomorrow) - first replacement did the same all the time. Kept silencing me half way through phone calls when my headset wasn't even being used. Perhaps there is a design fault with these? If so, phone no. 3 should confirm this...
Guest coldmantis Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 fixed it kind of well heres my story after opening it up and having no idea what to do I put it back together got a little pissed and jammed a screwdriver in there now my my headset only has sound from one side, so I said F it and decided I was going to take it to a cell shop when I have time to get it fix since o2 asia is no help, when I was at work I was thinking what could be wrong I know that my speaker works and I'm sure there's some kind of switch in the headset hole so when I got home I decided to find a small pin and bend the front of it a little so it looks like a very small hook. after that I was jaming it in the hole (LOL) anyways I was right theres a small switch in there if you are look at in my view the screen is facing down the switch on the left behind a metal place, to my supprise my speakers came on yay!!!. But this is not the right way to activate the switch since if the speakers on and you plug in the headset the headset don't work lol you have to use the pin again to switch it back but then the speakers stops working. I did this a few times to confirm the switch is there but don't blame me if you try this and screw up your headset plug hole.
Guest pablo1000 Posted February 12, 2007 Report Posted February 12, 2007 Just in case anyone's interested, 3rd handset works fine. Guess the other two were slightly dodgy sockets...
Guest dave106 Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 this problem happens numerous times with the charmer and magician. guess HTC have learned their lesson by doing away with the 2.5 jack on the new models.
Guest mattartist Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 THis has happened to me twice. First time was resolved with poking the jack in and out. Second time has stuck for good ;) Have to use hands free all the time now - which is a real pain to untangle the wires from my pocket all the time. Might look into a BT set, but still not ideal. DId you guys who swapped it have insurance with Orange/O2? I can't change mine, is over 12mths old on 18 mth contract with no insurance.
