Guest Revenge Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 Hello people, i've tried almost everything, but TomTom don't recognise my GPS. I've searched the internet and many people have the same exact problem. Does anyone have here the special formula that will give the solution? Thanks.
Guest Griff_FFOC Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 I was having problems with the Holux Slim 236 with Route 66 on my C500, but managed to get it working. It appeared that if the receiver was set to SiRF protocol it wouldn't work. I downloded a program called SiRFDemo (from Holux website I think it was), connected my PC to the receiver using a bluetooth dongle (that's how i knew the receiver was fine) and changed the protocol to NMEA protocol and it seemed to work. I was thinking I had problems with it not working on NMEA too, because when it was set on SiRF I was picking up a reception indoors (orange light flashing), but after changing it to NMEA the light remained was solid. It was just the fact on NMEA it wouldn't pick up a signal until I went outdoors. SiRF is the better protocol, but it seems that Route66 doesn't like that for some reason. I've no idea if Tomtom is the same, but it's maybe something to look for.
