Backing up MMS again...

I know this has been asked before (with the usual answer that you can't do it :)) but the search seems to be broken.

Is there any way I can copy off my MMSs? Even raw text and pictures separately?

This is one of the reasons I won't be getting another smartphone - basic functionality that even over 4 or 5 revisions hasn't been put in...
