.net frame work 2.0

Whenever i install an app that requires .net compact framework to i always get an error saying that the application requires an updated version of .net.

So i google it and download what im told is the required files to install .net. When i try and run the .exe file to install it (from my PC) i get an error message telling me that there is an updated version of this software on my machine and that i do not need to install it. When i got to control panel i only have .net 1.0 as i uninstalled 2.0 to see if it affects the install.

Please can someone help me as this is getting really frustrating now....its the third app that i have tried and cant use because i cant get the correct .net framework on me phone.
