Smartphone VPN Setup and Use

I have a new smartphone and I am looking for instructions on setting up a VPN connection (which I think I have set it up correctly already), Activating that VPN connection (Have not figured that one out yet), checking to see the VPN is actually up and working and then setting up a VNC viewer (I have downloaded about 4 different ones so far - Ultra, .NET VNC viewer, Mocha and PTvnc) to use the VPN connection. The VPN is a PPTP and I have REALvnc running on a mchine I would like to connect to and control. This setup works fine from home. I could switch to Terminal Services and Remote Desktop but I currently have VNC running correctly so I though I would try that First.

I am looking for a way to connect to my exchange server over the internet.
