Hi,

I just bought a 4GB MiniSD card from MobyMemory to use in my C600.

After copying all my files from my old card the phone booted up, and the card was shown correctly in Smart Explorer. However, when clicking on the card to show the contents the familiar 'busy' symbol displayed and nothing else. After waiting a few minutes I had to reboot, and the phone would lock when trying to auto-start any application from the storage card (eg Phone Contacts Pro). Repeated attempts also failed.

I then read around on the net and discovered from the MobyMemory forums that I am not the only one with this problem.

I then decided to try partitioning the card into two seperate 2GB partitions. Again though the phone would lock up when trying to access the card. Tried reformatting with FAT32 instead of FAT, but with the same result.

Has anyone managed to get a 4GB miniSD card working in a C600/imate SP5/Qtek 8300? If so what did you have to do to get it to work, if anything?

Judging from the MobyMemory forums I don't think they should be selling this card as compatible with this model of phone.

Any help would be appreciated. If I have no luck I'll obviously get a refund.

Cheers,

Jason.

Sorry, not an answer to your question but just to let C550 owners know that this card works with no problem.

I just copied all the files off the old card onto the 4Gb and I've had no problems.

It's now three quarters full with no issues.

That is still helpful. If the card works in a C550 then I would expect it to work in a C600.

Do you know how the card is formatted? FAT or FAT32?

Jason.

Member Mini_man had to reformat this card to FAT (from FAT32 I believe) to get it to work in the C600

I actually noticed this problem as well.

Although I did format it into Fat from fat32 this weekend I used it and after about 4 hours using the card the phone repeatedly froze and locked up for no reason? its very strange, it runs well in my C550, C500 and Vario.

I hardreset and all worked, but i was strange that the phone ran very well using A2DP for a few hours but then it all went tits up?

Thanks for the reply.

You mentioned that you did a hard reset and all worked. Do you mean that you are now using the 4GB card (FAT formatted in one partition) in your C600 without a problem? If so I may try that.

I managed to make a change on my PC to treat the USB reader I bought with the card as a local disk, meaning I could use Windows XP to re-partition the drive as one big partition, and format it using FAT. Copied all my files to it, but the phone still won't boot properly. Seems to hang when it has to access the card. The busy symbol is diplayed and despite leaving the phone for 10 minutes it never cleared.

Please let me know if a hard reset helped and I may give that a try.

Jason.
