Guest shandar Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 I just installed TenGO Free on my MDA Vario II and registered it without any problem. But when I try to chose it as the text input my phone just goes back to the default keyboard. I have the same problem with the Phone-Pad input, but only occasionally. Annoying though, TenGO looks great :/ Does anyone have any ideas of how to solve this? I am considering a hard reset anyway since my phone is getting mysteriously slow (not due to lack of memory, 25 mb program memory free) but would be great if I could avoid it. Btw, tried searching for this but only got a blank page and an error on reload. Is the search function working properly?
Guest marisa4755 Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Have you tried: start/settings/personal/input/TenGo click options and go to the settings tab and tick the bottom box "set tengo as default keyboard" then do a soft reset. This should bring it up on all apps as your first choice keyboard.

Ah, yes... this problem. This is one of those fun areas where your 25 MB of free program memory is deceiving. I'm guessing that you have quite a bit loaded on your Today screen, other SIPs, or special programs that load on startup? The catch is that all of those things share a single 32 MB chunk of memory, and that can disappear faster than you expect. If you want more technical details, you can read this MSDN article, but suffice it to say that the 25 MB of free program memory doesn't mean that you have 25 MB of OS memory left. I've been hit by the same problem myself plenty of times....

Guest marisa4755 Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 As Sogarth says, it is an operating system problem really. I myself have to choose between Tengo and Calligrapher. I can't have both due to this problem, unless I disable most of my today plug-ins. So, I have decided to stick with Tengo, but it makes me very cross as I have paid for Calligrapher (from my previous device), but now cannot use it if I also want to use Tengo. Oh well, at least you got it working fine now.

You get to wait until WM7 before it's really fixed! :) Although, that part is true, since they've increased the process slot size in Windows CE 6.0 from 32 MB to 2 GB. Unfortunately, WM6 is still based on Windows CE 5.0.
