Guest dj sharpey Posted February 12, 2007 Report Posted February 12, 2007 (edited) Here's a good one for you, I have an alarm set for Mon -> Fri at 7.15am for work, this works fine, but for some reason the actual notification doesn't appear on the screen anymore, so I can't stop it! More annoying, I can't have a few snoozes and I HAVE to get up cos it starts getting on your tits! Things I've already tried; Reset button via stylus Removing the notification/enabling a new one Disabling the "work" one, press OK, enabling "work" alarm, press OK (this seems to fix Windows problems sometimes, no joy) Swearing at the phone Checking running tasks via memory/running programs It keeps beeping and buzzing until it seems to give up, so any help would be great appreciated :) Edited February 12, 2007 by dj sharpey

Guest marisa4755 Posted February 12, 2007 Report Posted February 12, 2007 This could be a notifications problem. What I would suggest is that you use Memmaid or SK Tools (Memmaid do a fully functioning trial) and look at your notifications queue. Run the duplicates finder/clearer. Then look at the notifications themselves. LEAVE ALONE all the ones where it is not obvious what they do. Look at the Calendar notifications and check that these are all in the future, not in the past, or downright rubbish. Delete these only. Then soft reset and see if this helps.
Guest dj sharpey Posted February 12, 2007 Report Posted February 12, 2007 Thinking about it, it was after I ran memmaid to fix a storage space issue that all this started happening (penny drops). I'll fire it back up and see what I can do, cheers Marisa!
Guest dj sharpey Posted February 12, 2007 Report Posted February 12, 2007 ok, so I deleted any duplicates out, and also any reference to "clock.exe" which when I highlighted it, showed "work" as the name of the reminder. I'm guessing it's some old calendar entry as the phone is buzzing immediately after a reset, but I can't see any other appointments listed in Notications in Memmaid :) Please don't tell it's hard reset time?
Guest marisa4755 Posted February 12, 2007 Report Posted February 12, 2007 And the problem is not fixed?
Guest dj sharpey Posted February 12, 2007 Report Posted February 12, 2007 And the problem is not fixed? No, it still goes barmy, buzzing away after you've reset it, about 5 different reminders kicking off with nothing on the screen :)
Guest marisa4755 Posted February 12, 2007 Report Posted February 12, 2007 The only other thing I can think of to do is to install AlarmToday by Pocketmax. This shows all the notifications (system and other) etc etc. It's a today plug in and has a free trial. I used this a lot on my XDA IIi when notifications had somehow got out of hand. I would think if that doesn't work, you're looking at a hard reset. Do you have a backup from before the problems started?

I tried selecting absolutely every notification in the end, deleting them and resetting. Same thing! So I just hard reset it :) One bonus is, it's now running tons faster, just like when you flatten your PC and put XP back on. Marisa, cheers for you help - shame I couldn't have done it the easy way.
Guest marisa4755 Posted February 12, 2007 Report Posted February 12, 2007 No probs, at least you now have a nice fast clean machine. Time to install lots of gorgeous new apps and start the process again. :)
