Orange SPV M3100 - Not recognised on any PC

Strange one this.

I've got an M3100 that has been fine for months now.

Suddendly no PC recognises that it's there when I connect it via a USB. The strange thing is that it charges so there is a connection. In the activesync "connect via USB on all PC's" that is set to "yes". ActiveSync works to our exchange server but not to anything on the local machine. ActiveSync on the local PC just says - no device connected. Troubleshooting shows zero errors.

I'm stumped as I didn't change anything before this to stop it working.

The only other strange thing is that the device NEVER and I mean NEVER does an automatic sync at the set interval "over the air" or via the USB connection regardless of the settings. I have to manually force a sync to get emails/update calandar etc.

Any ideas?

(PS I've unistnalled/reinstalled having rebooted ActiveSync and tried the new Beta - makes no odd's)

(PPS All of the PC's (4 in total!) were running XPSP2....)

Maybe try this old chesnut -

Uncheck USB to PC in the Connections tab? This will take away the TCP/IP connection.

However, I doubt this to be the cause, especially if it happens on every PC you try...

usually when this happens it's down to a dodgy USB connection - namely the cable, so might I suggest you nab a digital camera USB lead and try it on your Hermes, usually resolves the problem.

i'm having exactly the same problem. its been fine up until now. i've even master reset my phone but doesnt make any difference. it shows up on my phone that its connected and charging but wont connect, really annoying as i'm just about to sell my phone and need to transfer all my photos and then unlock it to all networks but i need to connect to pc first.

another thing is though, i cant seem to find any1 on the bluetooth (beam) list. i had 3 friends all with bluetooth on and it didnt find any of them. please help!! thanks
