Cingular 3125 Calendar Sync Problem

Okay, I'm having technical issues searching the forums, so apologies if this has been asked and answered already.

I just got a Cingular 3125, and when I sync it, the appointment times in the calendar reflect the time zone of the person who requested the meeting, and not me. I'm in Chicago and my boss is in San Francisco, so this is less than ideal.

Any ideas on how to solve this? Other information that might help? This all came from my initial sync with the device. I synched it first at home, then at work. Both using ActiveSync 4.2. I haven't tried a hard reset and re-sync, but that's probably the next step unless someone has a better idea.

Update: The hard reset (which was HTC's idea, although they also said there was some sort of time/date setting that you could set to "home" or "visitor" that I can't find anywhere) didn't help at all, although the other problem, where the phone would sync then show up as disconnected and refuse all attempts to reconnect, seems to have gone away. I think I may have an idea as to why that was happening, but the time/date thing is still pretty messed up.
