disable autodial from sim when you hit pound #

I have an HTC S620 (T-Mobile Excalibur). When I try to call my dad (D-A-D) it instead dials the 5th number on my speed dial (5-#). This is a problem whenever I dial someone with an "a" in the second letter of their name. Anyway to disable this?
