Guest nehvada Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 i got a 2gb memory card for my qtek 8310. it works fine in my dvice, but for some reason it seams to take for ever to transfer a larger file like a movie (400mb) from the pc to the memory card. nothing happens. so i decided to put the card in the card reader of my pc. when i try to read the memory card it always ask "would you like to format?". if i click NO i cant do anything with it. i thought this card must be formatted by the manufacturer, because i never had trouble with those card in my nokia phone. i just format them either on the pc or on the phone, no problem at all. which format should i use? i am afraid i will mess up the crad, which one time happened to me. the card was totally useless after i formatted it. in addition to that the phone always "forgets" its time and date when i remove the battery to change the storage card. :)
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 You can format the card on the pc, I generally use Task Manager from www.binarys.com to format on the phone instead. As for the phone forgetting the date and time when you remove the battery, sounds like the internal battery is faulty.
Guest nehvada Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 You can format the card on the pc, I generally use Task Manager from www.binarys.com to format on the phone instead. As for the phone forgetting the date and time when you remove the battery, sounds like the internal battery is faulty. i tried both, nothing works. its a brandnew kingston miniSD with 2GB. i can use in the phone with no problems at all. but i cant change for exaple the name of the card. if i run the task manager from binary.com and try to format it says "error while formatting" when put the card in the card reader i get the message "would you like to format" . after pressing [ok] it says that the card has only 980MB instead of something like 1980MB. thats driving me crazy. i dont want to format it down to half the size. it also shows me two different filesystem for formatting like FAT and FAT32. which one should i choose? if i put i in the pc and go to file explorer/storage card/properties/filesytem: it says "RAW". does that mean it has a completely different system than FAT or FAT32? im confused :)
Guest nehvada Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 (edited) now that i was brave enough to format with FAT32 the card again is useless in my phone. it is not recognized. now i can use it very well on my pc.... :) i have another card, its a 256mb card from tomtom. its also formatted in FAT32. NO problems at all, neither on the pc nor in my phone. i copied all contend on the 2GB card to get some extra space, but the phone doesnt recognize the bigger card. is this probably a problem with larger cards like this. for like on "older" ROM for the 8310? does it only support cards up to 512MB or 1GB? Guest PaulTheHunter Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 Sorry to revie an old(ish) topic, but this is the same problem i have with my Kingston 2Gb memcard except i doesnt work with eitehr internal or external readers. Im starting to think theirs something wrong with my card since the readers cant find the folders that were created when i formatted it in my Sharp 902. does anyone have a clue or know what could be wrong?
