On most WM devices (all the ones I've ever had I think) you can just press the volume buttons to mute the ring

Yes, it is -- you tap the volume bar (JOGR). But you have to be careful as tap it too long and you 'reject' the call, which is what I believe you're trying to avoid. Search around for instructions on how to change your registry to disable call rejecting via the JOGR bar.

It is possibe, i have the HTC and tapping the JOGR twice didn't mute the call by default, i had to go and make the necessary changes in the Registry.

To mute incoming call by double pressing the Joggr: Hkey_current_user-->control Panel-->Jogbar-->Settings-->EnableRingVolumeMute the value data should be set to 1

Hope this helps :)

Must be different with the HTC... Out-of-the-box, with the Dash (it's actually in the documentation) if you do a quick tap (once, not twice) during an incoming call, the ringer is muted. If you tap 'n hold for a sec, it rejects. You can modify the registry to do away the the tap 'n hold rejecting part, as I was constantly rejecting calls when it was on.

Is it possible to disable the in-call volume feature and leave the ring silence feature active? I'd like to mute the ringer, but I'm always changing the volume during a call by mistake.
