HI all,

I've been lurking around for a few weeks now - fabulous forum, with some great information! A couple of days ago I got a shiny new Vario 2 on T-M. Couple of questions that may seem pretty silly, so please be gentle!

Instant Email Blackberry: I've had problems setting this up and getting it to work. Spoke to T-Mobile earlier and it seems that it wasn't activated. I have to say, having had phone contracts on all other uk operators, just how knowledgeful and helpful T-Mobile CS is, it's especially nice to speak to a technical department that actually seem to know what their doing!

They still could't get the instant email working so are going to pass it to another section, who will call me back with the next couple of days. However, about an hour after the telephone conversation I get an email message from the 'activation server' saying the blackbery device is set up and I should start geting messages within 20 minutes. I also got directed to a site where I entered my email username and password for my email account.

However, I'm not getting any emails through - and I can't log on to the instant email web site as I don't have a username and password (it's not the same as the ones entered for the email), if I try to set up a new account it says my device already has an account! Any guru out there know what I'm doing wrong?

Another annoyance is that it appears that the blackberry instant email uses it's own internet connection to keep in touch with the server, and everytime I use the internet it connects with the standard T-Mobile connection, knocking the instant email off. Is this right, and is their anyway I can get these two applications to use the same connection?

Finally, for now, surely there is a way to actually close an application down, other than keep going into 'running programs' and stopping it from there?

Thanks for that. I had seen the application that closes a program, I'm just amazed that there's no built in facility to do it, other than go into 'running programs' and close them from there!

With the email, it is now up and running, kind of. The 'instant' bit is a bit hit and miss though - firstly it uses a different connection so if using the internet it knocks the email off, and it doesn't always reconnect - until a call or text is made/received.

However I do have a question about the messages folder. In there I have a system folder where system messages from the blackberry email are sent, a folder for the email mailbox that the instant email connects to, and an outlook account.

I can't seem to send from the outlook account, and have difficulty sending or receiving through the instant email account with attachments. For instance I recieved an email with 6 jpg files attached, ranging from 18k to 60k. It won't download the smaller files, as it says they are 'unsupported file type' and anything over about 25k it won't touch. Similarly I tried to send a camera picture (600k) through the same account and it wouldn't let me, it looks like there is a 60kb limit.

The onlyway round this has been to set up a new account for the same mailbox that connects through the phone's normal messaging account and manually send/receive to send the email. This rather defeats the object of the instant email.

The questions I have are:

Are the restrictions on the instant email right, and why can't I send any attachments from the storage card - only from the phone.

Why don't the Outlook and Instant email accounts appear in the settings section, so can't be adjusted.

Why do I have a Outlook account that can't be used, or deleted as it doesn't appear in the options.

Any help is gratefully received. I really want to get this all sorted in my head, and on the phone so it's working properly. I'm delighted with the rest of the phone so it would be a shame to have this email thing spoil it!!!!

Cheers,

Scott.
