Guest Alex (nedge2k) Posted February 20, 2007 Report Posted February 20, 2007 If you're somewhat of a budding musician and you've never heard of or tried intent miniMIXA (formerly SSEYO miniMIXA) before, then you're missing out! I've always had a very large soft-spot for this program ever since my original review of it for the Smartphone platform back in 2004! Back then, it was fairly basic but very powerful and you could quite easily loose yourself in it for hours at a time creating random mixes. These days, miniMIXA's feature set is even more impressive (info). At 3GSM this year Tim Cole (co-founder of SSEYO), who some of you may have met at the MoDaCo Meet last year, did a live performance using miniMIXA on a HTC Universal (great choice of device ;) ) at Barcelona's Red Lounge[...] in between a great set from the house DJ, “DJ Monk”. I had miniMIXA++ running on a PocketPC [...] I had some senior mobile industry figures mixing live, too. [...] Was this a world first performance? Quite possibly(!), as it included the following elements: live 12 track mixing on a Windows Mobile device; 22KHz stereo output over bluetooth to the club’s PA; audience participation; modular synthesizer; spot loop triggering; full track audio file streaming from storage card; XY control panel (controlling filter cutoff/Q); loading content into the mix on the fly (auto pitch shift/time stretch from other MIXApaks); use of a range of live fx at track and global level. Even if you're not a budding musician you should head on over to Tim's blog and check out the mix. When you consider it was created live on a Pocket PC I'm sure you'll agree, it's pretty damn impressive! :D EDIT: Check out this live "mashup" vid of rappers from the Slough Young People's Centre (SYPC) and a Dell Axim running miniMIXA">" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350">
