Need help downgrading SPL to install WM5

I've been trying to flash WM5 to my SMT5600. I'm stuck at downgrading the SPL so I can get th IU bootloader screen. I looked at countless forums for countless hours and it's driving me nuts! Can someone please explain it to me or point me in the right direction? Thanks! ;)
