Ring tones

I'm a newbie w/a HP iPAQ 6945 w/Windows Mobile 5.0 and for the life of me I cannot import a song as a ring tone. I follwed the guide to go to windows/rings and it does not show up, I tried several options and imported it into the Media Player where it plays just fine, but can't find it on the ring tone drop down list. I even dumped it into the same drop down list that has the ring tones but when opened it is not there. I've tried both internal memory and SD card, still nothing.

Any help?
