never knew how to sync and convert a video without it changing the resoluton

well this sounds noobish but i never knew the answer to this, so il ask away.

how do i convert and sync a movie in windows media player without it resizing it to such a small resolution? the smallest resolution id like is 320x240 so it fits perfect on my screen.
