Sync works by IR but not by USB (C600 Activesync 4.5)

Got my new c600 a few weeks ago but just getting round to posting this.

Activesync works perfectly on my work pc by usb.

On my home computer I set up the relationship between my PC and C600. When connecting by USB it begins syncing but it never completes

Strange thing is it syncs by Infrared 100% fine.

Ive checked my firewalls Zonealarm and Norton internet security and enabled all activesync programs allowing all communications between my computer and phone.

Cant work out what the problem could be.

Can anyone help me out?

i think 2 software firewalls is a bit over kill...

but back to the question...

have you disabled Windows firewall?

if not they you need to allow activesync through that.

does it fail at the same stage of sync-ing everytime?

where does it fail? - contacts? calendar? tasks?

Norton wasnt reliable enough for my liking so thats why theres 2.

It never actually gets to sync any of the above types of data. just constantly says syncing but never gets any further.

I'll close down the firewalls and check to see if they are whats causing the problem, but i find it hard to believe given that it can sync by IR (unless IR and USB use different ports to relay data to the device)
