Windows Mobile Device Centre sync problems

Hi all,

I've got an SPV M3100 orange phone running the standard rom from the shop and my pc is Vista Business with Windows Mobile Device Centre. The problem I have is that the first time I hooked up the phone to the PC it set up a partnership and sync'd fine. But now the PC will not recognise it. I just get the error message USB Device not recognised.

I've tried soft and hard resetting - the soft doesn't do anything, and the hard reset just lets me set up a partnership and sync it once before the error starts again on subsiquent times.

Has anyone else had this problem and if so is there a fix to it?

It may be something to do with your firewall.

Number One, have you downloaded the latest WMDC from Microsoft? The one shipped with Vista has been updated.

Number Two, try start, settings, connections, USB to PC and try it with the option to enable advanced network connection ticked and unticked.

I've uninstalled the version I had on, downloaded the new version of WMDC and installed it, hard reset my phone and linked it up. It worked fine again for the first time then the same problem. I've also tried it with the network connection ticked and not ticked and it makes no difference. I've also tried a new cable and it makes no difference.

I'm using Mcafee security centre but opened port 5721 and don't have onecare on my machine.
