Guest gptoh1 Posted March 4, 2007 Report Posted March 4, 2007 (edited) Has anyone got an XDA IQ?? I bought one recently but was surprised to see that there was no Word, Excel or POwerPoint. Having these three programs on the smartphone were my main reasons for buying, so you can imagine my shock when they weren't on there. Apparently they done come pre-installed. Any one know how to get my hands on them? Edited March 4, 2007 by gptoh1
Guest chucky.egg Posted March 4, 2007 Report Posted March 4, 2007 Simple answer is that you bought a WM Smartphone (which does not have these apps) and not a WM PocketPC (which has Word, Excel, Powerpoint) You could have a try of these (you'll have to Google them because I dont know the websites): Westtek's Clear Vue Word, Excel, PDF etc (viewers only) PTab (really good Excel replacement)
Guest gptoh1 Posted March 4, 2007 Report Posted March 4, 2007 Hey, thanks. I've downloaded them programs. Now the questionis: i've got it as far as ActiveSync has them in "Add/Remove Programs" but now i don't have enough space on the device. But i've got a 2gb memeory card that it could go on, adn it doesn't let me save it to that. I'm a right noob ;) ; i know. Sorry to ask silly questions!
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted March 4, 2007 Report Posted March 4, 2007 When installing on the phone you should have the option to install to the phone or the storage card. During the initial cab setup you do need enough space on the phone for the temp install files.
Guest chucky.egg Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 I seem to recall that, even if you choose to install to the card, ClearVue still installs to the phone and only puts one very small file on the card. There was a solution (have a search) but I think it meant moving the .exe file(s) to the card and correcting the .DOC extension in the registry to point to the new location of the .exe (it's not too hard, but you need to be a bit careful!)
