Right i found a cable from a digital camera which fits into the bottom of my SDA to connect it to the pc but i just can't seem to get it to work. when you plug the usb cable in the pc doesnt detect the phone does this mean the cable won't work or that its something else. I downloaded Activesync 4.5 but nothing. I think all the cable is doing is charging the phone through the pc.

The cables are wired diferently, when the C500 first came out there was a big discussion on this and how to connect pins 4 and 5 (IIRC) to get it to work - what's wrong with the cable that came with the phone?

Yes, they're both mini USB - doesn't your mate have the cable?

What camera cable did you use? as you need to be careful you use the right connector, for example the Fuji uses a 7-pin mini usb which is completelty different to the more standard 5-pin that the C500 uses.

I have a T-Mobile SDA and the connector fits into the bottom of the phone same place as the charger theres another little round hole but i'm sure its the mini usb bit thats data connection aswell as recharging. Is there a difference between a camera cable and one for the phone?? Is it the other connector?? Help!

I think you are getting slightly confused. The litte hole is for the headset to be plugged into.

The mini usb is for data connection as well as charging.

As I mentioned in my last post some cameras use a special mini usb that has more connections and using this type will short out the normal pins on your phone and so should not be used.

Any mini usb connector will fit but the important thing to look at is how many pins the plug has. This is the thing to look at as you must have a 5-pin usb connector, look inside the hole in the plug/cable and you will see and be able to count the pins.
