Hello all,

I'm new to PocketPC, I've just upgraded to a m3100 and so far I'm really impressed. I've been a Mac user for the past eight years and I was wondering if there are any applications available that will let me install programs packaged as EXEs from the Mac. Or if there is a way to convert EXEs to CABs so I can install them directly on my handheld.

Specifically I want to install a VNC viewer so I can remotely access my server and also install SCUMMVM so I can play Sam And Max. I had an Acer Pocket PC for a while and previously I had access to a PC so I got SCUMM working fine but now I seem to be stuck.

Any ideas?

---EDIT

Also just found out that there's an openGL version of doom available for PPC but I can't get it to run. I have the original .wad files from the copy of Doom I bought years ago when I was a PC user but it just fails to load.

Well, at least one - me!

Depending on your mac, you could either set up Boot Camp or Parallels for using XP.

However, the easier way to do this is simply to bluetooth the EXEs, CABs or ZIP files over to your phone.

Turn bluetooth on on both devices, make your phone discoverable. Make sure bluetooth file sharing is turned on on your mac settings and that you have the bluetooth icon in the taskbar. From the bluetooth icon in the taskbar, select send file... It's pretty straightforward.

The files can then be found in the My Received Files folder on your phone. you can open them directly.

Sadly my machine is one of the G4 PowerBooks so I'm limited to using virtual PC which is fairly awful.

I've been using bluetooth to send the files to my device but some of the EXEs are designed to be run on Windows and then install through ActiveSync so I guess I'm out of luck with them. I've got everything working now that I was trying to (TomTom, SCUMM, DoomGF etc.) though there's just some games demos that I can't get to install. It's nothing life or death. ;)

Cheers.

P

Yeah that's what I'm using but it only allows you to "install" (copy) applications to your handheld that are in either .CAB format or PPC EXEs, it can't do anything with Windows EXEs or at least if it does it doesn't show you how.
