Guest Sportech Posted March 4, 2007 Report Posted March 4, 2007 (edited) First off I appreciate any help in advance as I've been racking my brain for days trying to get this really slick homescreen to install. I have tried contacting the author but have received no support so I come to the next best place ;) I'm sure you all are aware of Kleinweder's amazing homescreens. His newest one is really nice but whenever I try to install it by running the .exe on my PC I get an error installing on my phone. My phone is application unlocked and I've installed many themes and 3rd party apps before. Here is the one I have a problem with... Download link here: http://smartphone.kleinweder.ch/downloads/...load&id=171 My question is can someone install this successfully and then package the .xml files and necessary jpgs so I can manually drag and drop them in my home directory? It would be much appreciated. I've already tried extracting the contents of the exe myself but I've been unsucessful. Something must not be acting right with the installer and my phone. BTW I am using a T-Mobile Dash. I appreciate anyone who can help me. Thanks! Edited March 4, 2007 by Sportech

Guest Disco Stu Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 What error message are you getting ? Have you tried downloading the file again in case it got corrupted in transit ? Firewall blocking installation ?
Guest Sportech Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 What error message are you getting ? Have you tried downloading the file again in case it got corrupted in transit ? Firewall blocking installation ? A response! Thanks for taking a look at this thread. I should have mentioned I am not a phone noob and have been using Windows Mobile devices for years. I have already tried redownloading with both IE and Firefox. I am simply getting a cannot be installed. This is after I choose the location for the install. There is no firewall issue. I have installed homescreens from this author before without issue. Hopefully someone can install this properly and do me the favor of packaging the theme files in a zip for me so I can manually drag and drop them to install. I'm not sure how to extract the files from the .exe without actually trying to install them. Do they get put into a temp dir? I've tried contacting the author with no response. Thanks!
Guest Disco Stu Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 I haven't got a suitable phone to do that for you but I do know that exe installers usually create a cab file on your PC in c:\Program Files \Microsoft ActiveSync before transferring it to the device. Might be worth a look in there ?

Might be worth a look in there ? Disco Stu, sir, are a scholar and a gentleman. With your help I was able to find the .cab file the installer dropped into the ActiveSync directory. I opened the CAB with Winrar and extracted the files. I opened each one in wordpad until I found the installer instructions and renamed each incomplete rar file to .jpg's cooresponding to the installion parameters. It was tough and took some time but it now works. I still can't figure out why the installer did not work in the first place. I have tried to find help for this on numerous websites and you were the only one willing to help me. I thank you very much Disco Stu.
