Guest Paul (MVP) Posted March 6, 2007 Report Posted March 6, 2007 I haven't in the past, but decided I should! Check out this blog post of mine... http://www.paulobrien.net/you-really-shoul...ou-should-do-it ...for a really cool FREE online backup solution with 2GB online storage. P
Guest Richard Collins Posted March 6, 2007 Report Posted March 6, 2007 Yes! I have an NSLU2 NAS connected to two 320GB USB drives (Drive 1 and 2). I use Acronis TrueImage to backup my Windows PC to Drive 1 once a week, and the NAS then mirrors Drive 1 to Drive 2. Pananoid???! :-) Richard I haven't in the past, but decided I should! Guest Paul (MVP) Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 A little bit paranoid perhaps ;) What if your house burns down? :D P
Guest goochy1 Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 What if your house burns down? ;) P Its probably in a fire proof box at least 100yards away (Friends) ! :D
Guest travisb Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 Thanks Paul, I already back up to external drive (and monthly to DVD). Have signed up for free, but may go to unlimited ($4.95 is sod all for piece of mind) ;)
Guest chucky.egg Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 I've signed up too. Very neat, and FREE One thing to note - Mozy can't backup files if they're Windows-encrypted
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted March 14, 2007 Report Posted March 14, 2007 $4.95 for unlimited is indeed very cheap, i'm considering it too. I still wish there was a WinMo client tho ;) Anyone know how mozy copes with installation on multiple PCs? Or does it just not work? P
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted March 14, 2007 Report Posted March 14, 2007 Just read the Mozy site, seems you can back up as many PCs as you like, altho with unlimited you need to pay per machine... P
Guest Disco Stu Posted March 15, 2007 Report Posted March 15, 2007 I'm in the 'storage paranoia' camp and it's nice to know it's not just me. What if the drive fails ? What if they go bust ? :D ;) 2 free gigs seems to be the norm and it's never enough. I tried BT's Digital Vault but found the upload system to be somewhat hit & miss so switched to AOL's xDrive which works much better. You can compare all the options at All The Free Space Is it worthwhile using up all the free allowances to get the space you need ? I also bought a 320GB Maxtor external HDD and will get another to act as a mirror. The prices are low enough so why not ?!
Guest tsutton Posted March 15, 2007 Report Posted March 15, 2007 I've been using WHS - found it good, easy to use - it's "set it up and forget it" - it backs up every night (1st backup as full then clusher backup afterward)
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted March 15, 2007 Report Posted March 15, 2007 XDrive doesn't support Vista however ;) P
