Disclaimer: I've tested this thing to death to make sure it works properly, so the chances are, if it goes wrong its your own fault (nothing personal :)) Remember, only YOU can brick your device and I can't be held responsible for that. However IF anything should go wrong I will of course make every effort to help you ;)

Ok thats the nasty bit over :)

ModacoDude60.jpg
IF YOU HAVE FLASHED modacosplash1 THEN IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU REFLASH WITH THE UPDATED VERSION!

Following Pauls comment HERE regarding my MoDaCo Splash Screen for the Tornado/Hurricane. It has FINALLY become possible to create flashable HERMES splash screens :)

So here it is, in all its glory, in four flavours.

1. The RUU will not only change BOTH of your splash screens but will also make your device SuperCID allowing you to flash any Hermes ROM update :D It will also accept unsigned code and will not be over written when you update the ROM meaning your Hermes is now practically unbrickable :(

2. The RUU will only change the Sub Splash (on boot phone will display operator branding THEN the MoDaCo splash)

3. The RUU will only change the Main Splash (on boot phone will display the Modaco splash THEN operator branding)

4. The RUU will flash both the mainsplash and subsplash but NO superCID

Instructions

Download the version you want

Connect your Hermes via USB to activesync (activesync icon MUST be green)

Unzip modacosplashX.zip

Run ROMUpgradeUt.exe and follow all the instructions

Wait while its flashes your Hermes (will only take 30 seconds or so)

Done :)

ADDITIONAL NOTE: These splash screen will be set in ROM, and WON'T go away after a hard reset. Only a complete ROM flash will alter them.

KNOWN ISSUES: Sometimes the phone will freeze on the second splash screen immediately after flashing, however this can be solved by simply soft reseting and will boot normally everytime from then on.

HTC TRINITY USERS PLEASE HEAD OVER HERE TO DOWNLOAD TRINITY SPECIFIC VERSIONS, ALSO UPDATED AND NOW WITH SuperCID FOR TRINITY

FINALLY a BIG thank you to pof, itsme, TheBlasphemer, Des, Olipro and Bot over at XDA-Developers who put in alot of time and effort into researching the Hermes :)

In the meantime, enjoy :)

Phil

Brill! It works! :D

P

:(

Have you tried it on a Breeze or a Trinity yet? I haven't had chance to test on either, but they share the same bootloader, radio AND wdatah start adresses. The breeze however, being a smartphone, doesn't HAVE a subsplash hence why only number 3 will work ;)

Don't have a Trinity atm (did have) and have actually never had a Breeze i'm afraid ;)

On a seperate note... I wonder if there is a place for a ROM customisation section on MoDaCo, albeit with strict guidelines around only using released ROMs etc? I wonder...

Maybe a dedicated Tweaks/Hacks section? Sorted by device with registry, ROM and software based tweaks?

Updated my original post with a Trinity specfic EnterBL.exe, the hermes one works on the trinity for the purpose here but apparently it has some quirks like turning on the camera flash whilst in bootloader ;)

Nice work :(

I'm also thinking of expanding this to other devices (wizard etc) but i need to do some more research :D

I'll post a guide as to how to do it yourself later (probably friday actually) and attach all the tools you need and some sample images for everybody to experiment with along with the default operator images in a big zip file ;)

don't suppose you can include the boot screen from the buttons 1.05 rom could you?

I'll get as many as i can ;)

I'll also work out how to do the same for the wizard/prophet/charmer/magician/blue angel/himalaya/alpine (I wont be able to test it tho, as I dont have any of those :D)

i tried the methods described in the thread i started in the Monet section (lobster700tv), and none worked ;)

i assumed the tornado to be similar in some respects to the monet seeing as the tornado power control program works on it ok, and other progs..

but it just wouldnt allow me to change my splash "unable to save splash region" or something :D

is there another part of the phone that is locked other than the app lock? i really hate that virgin mobile splash :(

I'll investigate this further, what happened when you tried to flash the Tornado MoDaCo splash?

You can try CID unlocking using the SPV Services client.

Thanks! It worked perfectly! Was v glad that the 'operation *didn't* take 25 minutes to complete' ;)

SPV services just says "Encrypted checksum not found :D " when i try to CID unlock

the tornado splash screen installer got as far as putting my phone into bootloader (3 colour screen) and sat at 0% of the progress bar for a few minits before saying:

"ERROR [264]: Connection

the rom update utility has encountered communication errors during the update process..."

and i follow the recovery instructions, ie pull out battery and reboot the phone. and its back to normalstill with 'yuk' that virgin splash.

maybe we should continue this in the monet section ;)

25 minutes is for a COMPLETE ROM flash (Radio, OS, Extended ROM etc.)

I couldn't be bothered to hex edit the 25 minutes to 30 seconds ;)

Can anybody confirm that this works on a Breeze/Trinity yet?

Doesn't wanna play on a Trinity from Vista... ;)

Goes to bootloader then can't seem to find the device.

Odd...

Thats very strange, the EnterBL_Trinity.exe should behave exactly the same as the EnterBL.exe packaged with the splash utility ;)

You did replace the EnterBL.exe didnt you?

BTW it does enter the real bootloader.. it loads a virtual bootloader into the RAM of your device then jumps to the IPL its just loaded.

Could you please update this... don't flash an old Hard-SPL, and it doesn't make the device SuperCID at all, it just ignores the CID which is why task 32 is so fast if you use mtty.

also, replace the RUU please.

for those that want to SuperCID their device... do bear in mind that once you do so, if you upgrade your radio, and the radio bootloader becomes 0108, you're stuck with it (similarly, if you have a CID, you're also stuck) although I have a patch for the ExtROM to make it writable if you're not SuperCID... so you don't really lose out.http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=252802&st=20#

Noted, once again thanks for your AMAZING work Olipro :D Will update as soon as I get to a PC (I use a Mac mostly)

BTW I get a memory exception or something along those lines when I last ran your latest Hard-SPL, either way the RUU doesn't run ;) I'll try again later when I repackage etc.

I understood radio bootloaders should no longer be a problem when you release that patched 0108 you were on about over at xda-devs?

yes, the latest CustomRUU requires .NET Framework 2.0, that's all.

also, CustomRUU V4 (also .net) will now allow you to autodetect your bootloader version, enjoy.

Ahhh, seems my girlfriend had neglected to update her .NET framework. Women... ;)

Again, great work Olipro :D
