orange spv m600 problem

i bought 1 of these phones about 6 months ago,it was a brand new unwanted upgrade,i wanted a phone,pda and a device i could run tomtom on

it has been working perfectly up until recently but has now developed a fault using the phone function,i am not able to make or receive calls not even to orange

when i try to make a call the display says "the operation failed" when i click start,settings,phone the display says "the phone is not ready please wait 15 seconds and try again"i can't even get through to the mobile using another phone it goes straight to answerphone,i have a signal on the phone but it switches itself into "flight mode" and then the signal comes back,it does this at random

i have tried a soft reset and a hard reset all to no avail

i tried orange customer support and they were about as much use as a chocolate teapot

does anybody else have this phone or similar and have experienced the same problem?

its doing my head in now

p.s.the pda functions work fine as does tomtom
