Guest mobydick1000 Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 I have a Vodafone v1605. the Vodafone customisation does not seem too bad, but the device seems to DEMAND mobile access to receive push email or sync with Exchange server - even if you are in a WiFi hotspot. Explorer uses the wifi connection OK (I think anyway) but hitting 'sync' in Activesync results in a demand for mobile to be enabled even if in wifi spot. I beleive this is one of the Vfne customisation features to get more traffic, and hence charges. Does anybody have a fix to overcome this? Failing that, I can abort the installation before the Vfne customisations are applied, but then I need the varios other Vfne settings> does anybody have them? Thanks moby
Guest jimbouk Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 If you use directpush, it uses GPRS only - apparently for security reasons.... this is a Microsoft setting not vodafone. (I think this may have been fixed in WM6 though as my device doesnt keep a 3G data connection when plugged in to USB cable anymore) A manual sync however should work over wifi. Try putting the device in flight mode and then turn wifi on and try syncing. As long as you have a valid network connection then it should manually sync fine. If you want to lose the V customisation, then hard reset, then soft reset before the customisation cabs start. But as you said you will need to manually enter in the data and mms settings. (You will also lose all data on device - but you can of course sync a lot back from your pc)
Guest mobydick1000 Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 Thanks for reply. Do you know if the Vodafone settings anywhere on this site, or elswhere?
