Guest Paul (MVP) Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 Thanks to Jason for the TIPoff... Opera are about to release version 8.65 of their browser for Windows Mobile. Available for download shortly from the Opera website, version 8.65 adds a whole host of new features, and is the first to combine Smartphone and Pocket PC support into one version... "The Opera 8.65 mobile Web browser for Windows Mobile is designed with speed and ease-of-use in mind. The version is available for Microsoft Smartphones and PocketPC's, WM 5 and WM 2003." The new version retails at 171 NOK (just under 15 quid), and is a free upgrade for existing users. It's also free to MoDaCo Plus subscribers of course ;) New features include:Grab and Scroll (PocketPC only) Web search in addressbar Save image Copy text Send link as e-mail, sms, and mms Import IE bookmarks Languages Support for Macromedia Flash Player 7 for Pocket PCs FlashLite 2.1 That's in addition to the already considerable list of features: Multiple Windows Tabbed browsing (Pocket PC only) Zoom Download Navigation and history Bookmarks Landscape/Portrait Mode Pop-up handler Pad-lock icon on secure sites User preferences Context menu Web address auto complete Change encoding Desktop mode and Fit to Screen Plugin API (Netscape) The links on the download page currently point to the older version, but they should be updated very soon. Here's hoping they've fixed the Phone Pad URL input bug too! :D P

Guest carphead Posted March 10, 2007 Report Posted March 10, 2007 (edited) Still not updated. It's not on the FTP server either ;) I love Opera on WM it's the only browser I use. On the desktop I hate it but on a mobile platform it's excellent. Edited March 10, 2007 by carphead
Guest pd.ryder Posted March 10, 2007 Report Posted March 10, 2007 I never did get on with Opera - well, my Vario II doesn't get on with it, so much so I had to hard reset. I might try the new one once it's up on the server, especially if it has a flash player on-board. ;)

Guest Confucious Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 I'm a bit confused - the website says download 8.65 and the file is 8.60 but according to http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=252113 9 has been announced. When is v9 due? Why is 8.60 being linked when the page says 8.65? Is it not compatable with WM6 ?

Guest Paul (MVP) Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 Wrong... i'm told the bug IS fixed! 8.65 still isn't available on that link, so you're probably trying 8.60u2. P

Guest Julian Fong Posted March 12, 2007 Report Posted March 12, 2007 (edited) From where? P I just wanna to reconfirm is it really support flash? I just installed the Opera 8.65. And vist my site and youtube.com it doesn't show up the flash. And I install the flash player 7 again from Adobe. And finally doesn't show flash. And I dont' see any setting related to flash. Any brothers can help here? Or this is not the finally version? ;) Edited March 12, 2007 by Julian Fong
Guest agent.m Posted March 12, 2007 Report Posted March 12, 2007 Dont think Youtube will work anyways We really need flash 9 instead of 7. Myspace only just works with music on (granted I have a slow gprs connection)
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted March 12, 2007 Report Posted March 12, 2007 Bearing in mind the version you've downloaded isn't from Opera, it could be... - An early beta - An incomplete build - One part of a large install package I think we just need to sit tight until it's officialy released. P
Guest Sogarth Posted March 12, 2007 Report Posted March 12, 2007 Especially since (at least for me) it looks like they took that page down....

P Here is the official blurb taken from opera For the record, Opera Mobile 8.65 for WM is still not released. And this page should not be public. When the release is here, this will of course be announced. At least now you know what to look "
Guest Julian Fong Posted March 14, 2007 Report Posted March 14, 2007 Thanks for your update ;) So all we can do is......wait :D
