outlook duplicated folders

Has anybody seen something like this?

I've exported messages, renamed cemail.vol, restarted, imported messages back, and - this is what I saw...

All folders in Outlook are in pairs! After two further renaming cemail.vol and restarting, finally solved, but I don't know how this happened, nor how to delete folders if this happens again.

This is a friend's phone, he went away with it, and I can't reproduce the situation on my computer and phone.
