Courtesy of this article over at Digitimes, I can tell you a little more about HTC's plans for 2007!

Highlights:
  • HTC to ship 2-2.4 million handsets in Q2 2007, up from 1.6-2 million in Q1
  • HTC S420 (HTC Erato) to launch in Q2, successor to StrTrk. 400MHz Samsung proc with 3G HSDPA. Windows Mobile 6 Standard.
  • HTC P4550 (HTC Kaiser) to launch in June, successor to Hermes. 400MHz Samsung proc running with 3G HSDPA + HSUPA, WiFi, BT, GPS, 2.8MP Camera yet only 18mm thick. Windows Mobile 6 Professional.
  • HTC P3450 (HTC Elf) to launch in June, entry level device. Thin TI OMAP 850 powered device. Windows Mobile 6 Professional.
  • HTC P6500 (HTC Sirius) to launch in August. 3.5" display and fingerprint recognition. Windows Mobile 6 Professional.
  • HTC P5500 (HTC Nike) to launch in September. Slide out number keypad. Includes HSUPA and 2.8MP Camera. Windows Mobile 6 Professional.
  • HTC S730 (HTC Wings) to launch in July, successor to Vox. HSDPA, WiFi and GPS included. Windows Mobile Standard.

2007 looks busy already for HTC, and that's without all the top secret stuff they haven't told us about yet ;)

The Nike looks very good, will be interesting to see how it compares to the, very similar looking, Samsung sliders.

Did anyone notice the (Button?) labelled music in this image >PDAdb< and another to the right (Camera?)

I might have to get one 'for the missus' ;)

No sign of any dimensions anywhere? Spec and form factor are very nice so long as its not a brick ;)

Yeah I've been hunting for that info too!

Ok so I've just printed the image and taken a ruler to it,

Given a screen diagional of 2.6 inches I reckon its dimensions should be around 99mm x 54mm

Wild speculation would say that as the current/upcoming sliders (Kaiser etc) seem to have a thickness of 18mm we can expext something similar

Now who knows how to use sizeeasy ;)

Well.. Looks to me like a boring HTC year..

Still, no follow up to the C500.

S710 and S730 are much to big, containing a complety useless and spacewasting QWERTY keyboard.

There´s plenty of Pxxxx that contains keyboards and thats the way to go, if you want a keyboard.

A Smartphone (the S) is a Smart Phone that does not contain a keyboard. For some peculiar reason HTC doesn´t get it..

So please HTC - screw the keyboard in th S versions and make us a proper followup to the c500.

Some would say the Metor was the follow up to the C500 (C600). Just because Orange decided not to distribute it is not down to HTC.

Personally I like the keyboard, roll on the successor to the Excalibur ;)

Well - I´ve got the Mteor.

But:

Standby-time is less than 2 days, the back cover keeps falling of in the pocket and it is to big.

So I´ve actually switched back to my C500 because it works so much better than the Mteor.

The only thing the C500 doesn´t have is the nice screen in the Mteor.

(and Edge/3G - but I can do without it)

Out of interest, now that O2 have dropped HTC as a supplier, anyone know if they've any plans on bringing in a device in the same form-factor as the Kaiser (i.e., keyboard + GPS). The Zinc is about perfect for me (including its release date :D ) except for the lack of built-in GPS. ;)

You´re right.. I thought about it numerous times.

It would just seem plain strange to "upgrade" to a 1½ year old device.

I just think that HTC should get their a... together and release a decent Smartphone

(instead of these boring PDA wannabe Smartphones)
