vario II USB modem problem - 'receive data' stops flashing

Just wondering if anyone else has run into the problem of using the vario as a modem via USB, then after about 10 mins of good usage, it starts to flat out stop working (blue 'send data' light still flashes, but green 'receive data' light in WModem app doesn't flash at all. The only way to solve this is to disconnect on the PC's internet status app, then on the phone's Wmodem go to menu -> stop, menu-> start, and re-dial the connection on the PC.

I'm positive it never used to be this unreliable. Anyone got any fixes please?

Along with the fact that it's 50/50 as to when people can actually get a hold of me on this phone (half the time there's apparently a pre-recorded woman telling htem my phone is unavailable), I'm not impressed 4 months into a 2-yr contract. I thought T Mobile was supposed to be a good carrier, but I was much happier on my Three contract for the past couple of years.

I know this is an old thread, but felt like responding anyway. You made sure that ActiveSync is closed whilst the WModem app is running? When I left it running it used to cause conflicts so I always make sure it's closed and properly killed (I use Switch from hfrmobile.com to properly close apps but any decent task manager app will do) and I've not had any problems since.

My problems were more from existing data connections in ActiveSync (for push email, etc) not being gracefully closed so that the WModem software could establish a new one, but the same issue could apply to you.

If anyone is using Windows Vista and have managed to get their Vario II working as a modem I would be grateful if you could let me know what the work around is.

Many thanks.
