need purchasing Advice

I bought a HTC 2125 in May and loved it for a while. Recently i have noticed that it lagged up a lot and had some other problems. fortunately or unfortunately (can't decide which) my phone got put through the washing machine by my mom so now she's offering to buy me another phone. I went to the store after researching for a while the new phones that are out and decided that i wanted a cingular 8525 (HTC TyTn). It was however much more expensive than i thought and i ended up purchasing a blackjack for half the price. I need advice on whether or not the blackjack is a phone worth having or if i should really go back and get the TyTn. One thing i didn't like about the blackjack is that it didn't have Wi-Fi which i was really adamant about getting for my next phone, but with 3G out it might not even matter. Also i'd like to know if the successor to the TyTn is coming out anytime soon (next 2-3 months) because i'd rather wait until then and try and get the TyTn for cheaper. Thanks for your time.

P.S. Does Cingular support 3G yet or is EDGE there current fastest platform?
