How to stop screen keyboard appearing

I have a new Orange SPV M3100, my first voyage into Pocket PC waters.

When using the slide out keyboard I am constantly having to dismiss the screen keyboard, for example every time I add a task, or type a reply in Messenger etc.

Is this something that can be solved?

Is this something that drives others mad?

Any help would be appreciated.

The keyboard that pops up on the screen will be automatically dismissed as soon as you start typing on the slide out k/b, not really a fix, but it does the job, I find that intensely annoying also. Ah well....
