number# Dialer

I find that when I press a number followed by the # sign, it asked me if I want to dial a number, eg 1#.

The numbers it picks up from seems to be from my SIM card. But I would like it to prompt me for numbers from my phone. Possible ?

And how to position the numbers, ie how to I tell it 1# -> number 1, 2# -> number 2, etc

I don't know where this is documented. I would like to know more.
