Activesync shut-off

Does anyone know if there's a way to get activesync to automatically shut off once it's disconnected from the sync cable? If I forget to manually shut it off through the memory console, in 2 hours my battery is down to about %75 and it's the only thing running but if I do shut it off 2 hours later the battery's still at about %95. That's a lot of battery sucking for something that's not actually doing anything.
